Lately

Singer/songwriter Jefferson Fox has amazed audiences throughout the U.S. with tunes from past work, other inspiring artists and from his newest album, Animule which was released on August 15th of 2008 on his independent label, Outright Records. Jefferson's lyrical genius, compelling voice and quirky but beautiful guitar playing made this record an amazing work that will be remembered as a musical masterpiece for years to come. The songs and recordings range broadly in texture and style but maintain uniformity in their thoughtfulness, musical beauty and sonic excellence.

Animule was recorded and produced by Eric Weaver (Soulsavers, Twilight Singers, Beck, Britney Spears, Queen Latifah, etc.) at Conway Studios in Los Angeles in historic Studio A and Mastered by the legendary Gavin Lurssen of Lurssen Mastering (Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Alison Krauss/Robert Plant, Tom Waits...)

The players on Animule include
Joe Ayoub (Enrique Iglesias, Population Game, Liz Phair),
John Cranfield (Rancid, Pink, Lionel Richie),
Joshua Blanchard (Joni Mitchell, George Thorogood, Isobel Campbell/Mark Lanegan),
Jocelyn Kay Lee,
John Dona,
John Molino(The Fabulous Thunderbirds),
Scott Gilman (Terence Trent d'Arby, Chaka Khan, Foreigner, Alice Cooper)

Jefferson writes with deep insight about the dilemmas, disappointments and delights that inform the human condition. Listeners find in his music an awareness and understanding of those moments in life that find us with our defenses down or leave us confused. His voice evokes every emotion that a listener hopes for and brings to life songs that stay with us long after the record stops. His lyrics find us staring headlong into the events that bring his songs to life. He has been described as a James Taylor of the 21st Century but the creativity in his work brings many other names to the conversation including Tom Waits, Paul Simon, Leo Kottke and a host of others, all proving that what Jefferson Fox provides is a new flavor for music appreciators.

Jefferson's discography includes 'Wait For Words' (2007), 'Homecomings' (2005), Drench's 'Wahoo' (1995) and 'Buried' (1992). His solo career was reborn in 2005 and has blossomed as his growth as a musician and songwriter have formed a valid artist that is certain to become one of todays premier talents as audiences continue to become aware of Jefferson's gift.

Jefferson Fox is touring in support of Animule but is hard at work on another release which is also being produced by Eric Weaver. He is a 'don't miss' on the road and will be visiting your ears on radios everywhere soon.

Before Lately

Jefferson Fox was born in Southeast Missouri to Elbert and Jane Fox.  The two divorced and Jefferson began his childhood as the step-son of Michael Allen, an Army pilot.  At age 6 Jefferson began playing guitar.  Other instruments followed and his passion for songwriting was born.  Jefferson traveled the world with his family on military duties until 1991 when he graduated high school in Georgia.  He then returned to Southeast Missouri and worked as a carpenter while playing music in several rock/alternative bands that he fronted and wrote material for.  Jefferson married drummer Sharon Clark in 1994 and had two daughters.  After his last band, 'All That Matters' broke up in 2003 Jefferson began performing solo and writing more.  He and his family moved to Wyoming for two years during the completion of 'Wait For Words' in 2007 and stayed through the release of 'Animule' in 2008.  They then returned to Southeast Missouri where Jefferson bases his operation today.

Heather Luttrell has been surrounded by music for as long as she can remember. Having grown up in the company of her father and his band, she would take her naps amidst a pile of instrument cases at numerous live shows throughout her childhood.

Heather started playing and writing her own music very early in life, sounding music out on the guitar and piano. After cutting her teeth playing solo shows, she gathered several talented Atlanta musicians to back her. The trio formed Heathergrrrl and the Hungover. The group recorded a live album, and toured throughout the Southeast garnering a loyal and enthusiastic following.

After a couple years with the band, Heather ventured out on her own again, finding that outlet allowed her to be ultimately more creative and self-sufficient. She's developed a very dedicated fan base in the years of solo touring since then. In 2002, Heather released her 1st album, the live solo acoustic Drive It Like You Stole It. Her recent follow-up studio album Grits n' Pulp, was released in early 2005 and showcases Heather's proven bare bones vocal and guitar combination while enhancing various performances with a full backing band and her own masterful piano abilities.

Heather is preparing to tour in support of her own music and her latest CD Pomegranate. Having the benefit of her recent global exposure, she looks forward to what the future holds on her terms. She still enjoys performing solo, but is also joined by a new backing band who performed on her album, giving a solid back to her powerful vocals and melodic style.

She has played with such acts as Angie Aparo, Ryan Adams, Elton John, Melissa Ferrick, Robert Earl Keen, Bela Fleck, Hopsing Project, Teagan and Sara, Alana Davis,  Michelle Malone, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Zac Brown Band, Marshall Tucker, Georgia Satellites, Delbert McClinton,  Dave Mason, Shawn Mullins and Tishamingo.

Marshall Ruffin: Soulful Blues Meets Stimulating Grunge

"Ruffin plays guitar and sings with a prowess that most roots & blues artists develop only after many weary years on the road."
Lisa Love, Georgia Music Hall of Fame

"The dude can really sing and play - to say I was amazed by his songwriting talent, instrumental abilities and vocals would be an understatement."
Jeff Hahne, Music Editor, Creative Loafing Charlotte

"I rarely get inspired to say such things, but really - if you're able to see Marshall Ruffin 'live' then you really must. He is just f***ing amazing!"
Geoff Achison, Blues Guitarist Extraordinaire

The twenty-five year old roots-rock and blues singer-songwriter-guitarist grew up in typical Americana, where science was at the fabric of his family. After finding a guitar in his attic at age thirteen, Marshall taught himself to play. Just several short years later, he majored in jazz performance at the Berklee College of Music. It was while in Boston, Ruffin recognized and tapped into his songwriting skills and vocal gifts. Within a year after graduation, Marshall moved to Columbus GA for some Ma Rainey education, opened for dozens of regional and national artists, and signed with Jammates Records. After experiencing a Marshall Ruffin performance, one only expects his momentum to accelerate. Rich Man's Dime, his freshman EP, hit the streets in February '08 and spent eight weeks on the roots/blues chart ending the year at no. 4 on Georgia Roots Radio. Just out September 15th is Morning Glory, his 2009 sophomore effort. Marshall Ruffin will be playing solo and with his trio throughout east coast music venues in support of the new release.
