LOCAL: Lee Johnson's 'Deadhead Symphony'

Local composer, arranger and music scholar, Lee Johnson has released his latest CD "Dead Symphony No. 6" which he recorded with the Russian National Orchestra in Moscow.

Ten years in the making (yes, take that to heart), Lee composed this Symphony based upon songs by The Greatful Dead. This symphony will be performed live for the first time August 1, 2008 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the late Deadhead, Jerry Garcia's 66th birthday.

Locally, Lee's known as the Callaway Professor of Music Chair at LaGrange College, often found working with the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State and is a featured arranger on the upcoming MIC CD "Ten Songs from the Edge of Georgia".

You can learn more about Lee Johnson, the Symphony and buy the CD through his website or in a cool article on NPR.
