Mace Hibbard, Saxophone (9 Sept. @ Liberty Theatre)


Born and raised in Waco, Texas, Mace Hibbard continues in the tradition of Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Kenny Garrett, Chris Potter, and Branford Marsalis. After 10 years of being one of the most sought after woodwind players in Austin, Mace relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in the summer of 2003 where he is continuing his reputation as an accomplished performer and composer.

Mace has performed throughout the United States and Europe, sharing the stage with Wynton Marsalis, The Derek Trucks Band, Wessell Anderson, Marcus Printup, Michael Brecker, Phil Woods, Bobby Shew, Arturo Sandoval, James Moody, the Austin Symphony, Bjorkestra, the Four Tops, the Temptations and the O Jays. He attended the University of Texas in Austin, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Musical Performance and a Masters degree in Jazz Studies.

Mace released his new album, "When Last We Met" in January, 2007.

The concert begins at 6:00 pm and the jam session begins at 8:00. Musicians are invited to bring their instruments and sit in -- anything could happen!

Taylor Pierce & the Auburn Jazz Syndicate

Taylor Pierce began playing guitar at age 13. At age 15 he went to Berklee College of Music in Boston where he was advised to select jazz as his concentration. Taylor returned to Auburn, AL and, at age 16, joined the Auburn Knights Orchestra and began leading his own jazz combo. At age 17, he returned to Berklee and received the #1 guitar scholarship out of 500 guitar players. He will begin full-time study there in January of 2008.
